Biography
Started playing drums at age 5. By his mid-teens, he was a member of several bands as a front man that attempted singing and/or drumming. He stopped playing drums at age 17 and in 1981, at age 18, he moved to Toronto to further his musical pursuits.After stints with various bands, LaBrie became the vocalist for the glam metal band Winter Rose, who released their self-titled album in 1989.
Trivia
LaBrie's first name is Kevin. He switched to his middle name, James, when he joined Dream Theater.He is the father of Chance LaBrie.
James revealed in an October 2021 interview with The Metal Voice that he was offered to replace Bruce Dickinson in Iron Maiden, but turned it down in order to focus on Dream Theater, so the gig went to Blaze Bayley of Wolfsbane instead.
