Biography
Before joining Lamented Souls in 1991, Hestnæs played drums in a glam rock band called Penthouse Petz at the end of the '80s.Hestnæs was married to Lise Myhre, a Norwegian cartoonist and illustrator whose best known work is the comic strip Nemi, created in 1997. The couple has a son, Storm Hestnæs, born in 2007.
Trivia
Hestnæs's alias, ICS Vortex, is related to an alias of Kristoffer Rygg, namely Fiery G. Maelstrom, with which he's credited on Borknagar's second album, The Olden Domain. "IC" ("icy") is the opposite element of "fiery", the "S" is Simen's name initial, (while the "G" is the first letter of Rygg's main alias, Garm) and the last two words, "maelstrom" and "vortex", both mean something like a ...
