Hipgnosis was an art design group that specialised in creating cover art for the albums of rock musicians and bands. The group was founded in 1970 by Storm Thorgerson and Aubrey Powell and dissolved in 1983. Artists involved with the group included Thorgerson, Powell, Peter Christopherson and Richard Evans.


The company created album art for a number of headlining groups, including AC/DC, Yes, Led Zeppelin, Paul McCartney & Wings, The Electric Light Orchestra, and Pink Floyd, and rose to great prominence in the industry after designing Pink Floyd's classic work "Dark Side of the Moon".
