Biography
When Townsend was 19 years old, the demos for his band Noisescapes caught the attention of Steve Vai, who recruited him to sing on his album Sex & Religion as well as the accompanying world tour.Devin then formed Strapping Young Lad, and later launched a solo career.
He is also known as a popular metal producer, producing albums for artists including Lamb of God and Soilwork.
Trivia
Originally Townsend wanted to be a puppet maker and puppet master before being a musician.Runs HevyDevy Records, which has featured bands such as Zimmers Hole and Just Cause.
Townsend featured on Ayreon's "The Human Equation" album, playing the character Rage, for which he wrote his own lyrics and vocal lines; Arjen had wanted him to appear on the album after discovering his work via his ...
