The earliest Wretch recording ever distributed by the band, recorded on their own tape deck, live, through the band's PA system, at an early 1985 rehearsal. After being recorded it was given and traded by the band to friends, collectors, fans, and anybody who wanted to hear the band. It is unknown exactly how many copies were distributed before the completion of the first 8-track recorded basement demo (i.e. not live) with a different lineup in 1987.
Continuing to write new material, and going through lineup changes led to most of these songs never being recorded again, although songs from this era such as "Metal Pounding Mad" and "Wretch" remained part of their live set for many years.
Recording information:
Recorded in the band's basement rehearsal space, live, through the band's PA system. It was believed to have been compiled over time but the members of the era confirmed it was recorded at 1 time, during one entire session, on all the band's own equipment, and was given no mastering, mixing, etc.
