In 1981 Troyen released two versions of a four-track demo cassette - this first version, where they were a four piece, and a second version, as a five-piece band. Both versions were recorded at Amazon Studios in Liverpool and engineered by Gil Norton. This demo was Norton's first studio job, during which he was first learning how to record, engineer and produce.
