Bleed

Album is dedicated to the memory of Max Cavalera's stepson Dana Wells, who suffered a car accident in 1996.

"Eye for an Eye" is a dedication by Max Cavalera to his former Sepultura colleagues. But producer Ross Robinson asked Max to change the lyrics slightly. The original lyrics appear in a demo version of it.

The breakdown in "Tribe" was composed during Sepultura's Roots tour, and was also used by Igor Cavalera and Andreas Kisser as the main riff in "Walkman" from the soundtrack of No Coração dos Deuses (1999).

Most parts of "First Commandment" were composed during Sepultura's Roots tour jams.

The title of the song ''Bumbklaatt'' is a word from Jamaican Patois (and which is also a Portuguese term), which translates as "blood clot". Max explained that this word in Jamaica is offensive, meaning "motherfucker" or "piece of shit". It was written primarily for Wagner Antichrist, in response to statements Wagner had made about Max's departure from Sepultura.

"The Song Remains Insane" is pieced together by three songs, including a cover of "Caos" by Ratos de Porão and a short rendition of Sepultura's "Attitude."
