- As the album title indicates, all tracks on this record remember people or groups who have commited acts of heroism during war.
- Inmate 4859 is about Polish war hero Witold Pilecki.
- "Smoking Snakes" is about 3 heroes of Brazilian Expeditionary Force who refused to surrender and died in Italy during the WW2. Their names are Geraldo Baeta da Cruz, Arlindo Lúcio da Silva and Geraldo Rodrigues de Souza.
- "Sparta" was written during the sessions for this album, but ended up being the opener of the next one, "The Last Stand".
