Released in January or March of 1974 on Moon Records (Rush's own label), later re-released in July of 1974 by Mercury/Polygram.

This is the only Rush album without Neil Peart on drums; John Rutsey left a week before the start of their first tour.

The band did not like the initial mix, and Terry Brown was brought in to remix it. He also asked them for more songs. They played "Finding My Way" for him, which he liked, and so they recorded it, together with one more song.
