Read The Dawn of Ogre 90% Lord_Elden August 3rd, 2007

The cover art is taken from the cover of the 1960's sci-fi novel Time of the Great Freeze by Robert Silverberg, drawn by Harry Schaare. It was used for the album based on a torn copy of the book Ed Cunningham, who is a big fan of science fiction/fantasy, had found at a yard sale.

CD design by Midnight Productions and Ogre. Back cover art originally from an illustration by Ulrich Kiesow (1983), creator of the German pen and paper role-playing game The Dark Eye.

The centerfold illustration in the booklet is by drummer Will Broadbent and is titled "Ogre Warrior".

Track 4 and 7 are split into two parts, respectively:
i. Out of the East
ii. Invasion

i. De Vermis Mysteriis
ii. Rats, Lice, and History

The album was supposedly put out by a label called Würmhole Records, but was in fact entirely self-released. Although the label logo is visible on the back cover of the CD, Würmhole Records never existed. It was merely an inside joke by the band.

Recording information:

Recorded in summer 2002 at Big Sound Studios, Westbrook, Maine, except 'Ogre' and 'Skeletonized' recorded summer 2000.

Mixed at Big Sound Studios by Justin Clark and Ogre. Mastered at DRT Mastering, Peterborough, New Hampshire.
