This was first released by Napalm Death independently, but later Earache Records came across Napalm Death and made an official release of the full-length. The first half was also intended to be a part of a split with British hardcore act Atavistic.

Considered by many to be the first grindcore album.

Most of the albums, re-released or not, come in varied colors: orange, gold, green, blue, and yellow. The main color of the release though is "lime green"/yellow as pictured on this page.

"You Suffer" is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the shortest song ever recorded, at 1.316 seconds.

The first pressing of the CD (1988) came as a 54-track CD including the "From Enslavement To Obliteration" album and 4 bonus tracks (which are the tracks from the EP "The Curse" minus the title track). In 1994, the first two albums were re-released separately.

Recording information:

Tracks 1-12 were recorded and mixed at Rich Bitch 8-track, Birmingham, UK on August 11th, 1986. Produced by Napalm Death, Unseen Terror and Head of David.
Tracks 13-28 were recorded and mixed at Rich Bitch 8-track, Birmingham, UK in May 1987. Produced by Napalm Death, Unseen Terror and Digby Pearson as Dig.
