It is believed that Anthony Kiedis (Red Hot Chili Peppers lead singer) asked Warner Bros. Records to delay the release of this album, due to the similarity of the title to the Red Hot Chili Peppers' "California" album, and because both albums were released in the same year and on the same label.

Members of the band Estradasphere provided additional instumentation such as violins, saxophones, violas, etc.

Recording information:

The recording is completely analog and was mastered from reel to reel tape which took more than a year to complete.
