The title refers to a verse in the Bible, Romans Chapter 5, Verse 12:
"Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned."
"1651" was made by Arditi and Marduk.
The album cover was inspired by a fresco entitled "Trionfo della Morte" (translation: Triumph of Death) made by Giacomo Borlone de Buschis in 1485 and found in the Oratorio dei Disciplini located in Clusone, Italy.

Recorded at Endarker Studio, Norrköping, Sweden in December 2006 and January 2007.
