Due to label dissent, this album was released under the name Kimmo Kuusniemi Band instead of Sarcofagus. Also, Moottorilinnut was the first heavy metal album to be sung in Finnish. Plus, the album featured three vocalists: Jukka Ritari, pop-singer Kirka Babitzin, and his sister Muska, so it was the first Finnish metal album to feature female vocals. The whole album was released on video, as well.

Kimmo remastered the album and briefly made it available for download at the Sarcofagus site for free with new artwork and the English album (Motorbirds) and song names. See the 'Other Versions' tab for more details.
