Videos were made for the songs Flight of Icarus and The Trooper.
The first title of this album was "Food for Thought" but it was changed to "Piece of Mind".
The intro of "Still Life" is a subliminal message as a joke, as a way of mocking the most conservative sectors that accused the band of being satanic and for including alleged subliminal messages in their songs after the release of their previous album "The Number of the Beast" (1982). Said intro in reverse is recorded by Nicko McBrain, and when rewinding it Nicko says: "What ho said the monster with three bonce, don't meddle with things you don't understand".
A Japanese version of the album in CD format released in 1986, has a bonus track which is track 6 titled "Phatoor". This is the reverse vocal track at the beginning of "Still Life", and they listed it as a separate song.
The track "To Tame a Land" was originally titled "Dune", but was changed after Dune author Frank Herbert's agents expressed his unwillngness to give his blessing to the band's use of the name. However, a small number of first pressings of the album were released with the original title on the LP sleeve.
