Released in a standard jewel case with clear CD tray and a 12-page booklet with photos and credits.
The title is a pun of Deep Purple's live album "Made in Japan" (1972).
Some versions include the song "Wrathchild".
The bootleg reissues include the other songs that were played at the concert and not on the EP, plus Montrose's live cover "I've Got the Fire" that appears as the b-side of the single "Sanctuary" (1980).
