Days of Purgatory

There is an error on the back cover that lists "Life and Death" as track 12 instead of the correct track "Pure Evil". The tracklist in the booklet is correct.

"Cast in Stone" is "Written on the Walls" from the self-titled album with new lyrics written by Matt Barlow.

Purgatory (the demonic woman on the album cover) is a character from Chaos Comics, who worked out an advertising deal with Century Media.

The album is referenced by the New York-based band Flattened Earth on its 2023 "Heavy Metal Is Serious Business" EP in that two of the previously-released songs appear in what was dubbed the "Days of Turdgatory Remaster" edition. The band had criticized Jon Schaffer for his involvement in the United States Capitol attack on January 6th, 2021 previously with its first single, "The Glorious LARP".

Tracks 1-5 are reworked versions of the first studio recordings in 1986.
Tracks 1, 2, 6, 8 and 15 are reworked versions of the "Enter the Realm" demo.
Tracks 11 and 12 are reworked versions of "Iced Earth".
Tracks 3, 4, 7 10, 13 and 14 are reworked versions of "Night of the Stormrider".
