Metridium Fields was originally released on Tyrannosaurus Records in 2004 as Metridium Field (singular). The 2006 version on The End was re-recorded by a slightly altered Giant Squid lineup and a different producer.
The band first referred to the 2006 version in plural and wanted to release it as such. However, the spine of this version omits the "s" due to a typo. The disc itself retains the plural. According to the band, the plural title remains the official one and they have come to collectively refer to both the 2004 and 2006 releases as Metridium Fields.
Also distributed by The End Records as a promo-CD together with orders.
Track 6, "Eating Machine," is a highly distorted sample from the movie Jaws.
