Release date of the album is debatable as some copies were available as early as the first half of September 2004.
A completely different image was initially intended to be the cover art (made by Ferdinando Marchisio), however the label rejected it because they felt it was "too dark", it can however be found inside the booklet. Later reissues of the album feature the original cover art.
Algol is credited as the bassist on the album, but he didn't actually play on it. All bass lines were performed by Herr Morbid.
The interludes "Malus Vivendi Part I-III" were composed by Nordvargr.
The song "Forgotten Tomb MMIII" is a reworked version of the track "Forgotten Tomb" originally released on the Obscura Arcana Mortis 2000 EP.
The band also recorded a cover of the Katatonia song "Nowhere" during these sessions, which can be found on the Katatonia tribute 2CD set "December Songs".
