Funded by a local company who funded several Battle Of The Bands contests throughout Ohio in the late 80s and 90s. After Deus Vult won 1st place in one of the battles in 1989, defeating 75 bands, they claimed their 1st-place prize, fully-paid studio time, and fully-paid release of the recordings as a tape (the company expected the winners to make a demo, but the band used the opportunity to make an official EP instead with much higher production value). Originally there were supposed to be 500 copies pressed but, likely due to additional costs in higher-then-expected quality printing of covers, inserts, and tape shells while creating an official EP (instead of a simple and cheaper demo as the company expected) only about 150 were made. Pressed by Queens City Audio, the label based around the studio it was recorded at, Queens City Music. Officially released on May 18th 1990.

Includes fold-up paper insert with lyrics, band members & other info.
Only ever released on cassette. Some sites list a CD version but the listings are based off of a single CD-r copy made by a band member in the early 2000's, and never constituted an official release (or even an unofficial release of any quantity beyond a few cd-r copies over the years, all unique from each other in content and appearance). Known variations of these cd-r's are...
A disc that only contained Soul Assault, with a printed cover made from the original art
A disc with Soul Assault and "Twilights Last Gleaming"
A disc with both of those, the 1990-91 tracks, and 6 of the GE Studios Live demo tracks, with a white cover with the tracklist on it

Recording information:

Recorded at Queens City Music, Cincinnati Ohio from late 1989 into early 1990.
