Regarding the album's lyrical content, the band stated that Sunbather "deals with the profound sadness found in the quest for one's personal perfection... serving as an artistic lucid dream of warmth despite the stinging pain of life's cruel idealism."
The colours of the artwork are meant to resemble the colours seen through one's eyelids whilst laying in the sun. The large, simplistic block writing of the album's title was inspired by the artwork of Pulp's 2001 album, "We Love Life".
Released in a two-fold gatefold cardboard cover. The cover features spot gloss UV coating on both sides. Includes insert with a picture and lyrics.
