After a few years of top 40 and Weird Al Yankovich I was effectively raised on Metallica's black album, with a little other early 90s on the side.
Things I Like: the chugga-luggatron, dissonance, dark stuff (be it angry, depressing, twisted, or eerie), bluesy swingin' heavy shit (like death 'n' roll and SOME stoner metal), atmospheric shit, long walks on the beach
Things I Don't Like: harmonizing in thirds regularly and blatantly, especially in anything other than very short stretches, gay (as in lively and colourful) metal like powermetal and the less abrasive general "melodic metal," calling stuff that isn't even remotely dark "goth," metalcore (stripped down melodeath + stripped down groove = bad fucking idea), nu-metal post sell-out (which happened almost immediately), post-grunge, pop-rap, how the 80s made R and B suck (thanks Prince), and how disappointing the genre of horrorcore (ICP territory) is.
