My reviews here are terribly out of step with my present tastes, but if you like what 18-21 year-old OSS liked, then I hope they're a fun resource for you. When I decide to review something metal-related, I make a point of posting it here as well, so keep an eye out for the occasional new bit.

A note on Perfect Pop Singles: It's a series I write on my blog where I try to spotlight and dig into why I love the songs I do. My definition of pop is broad; essentially I consider jazz, orchestral/classical, ambient, some extreme forms of metal and punk and experimental music to be non-pop; everything else is fair game as long as it's catchy. Obviously many metal fans object to thinking of, say, Dio as pop. I'd respond by saying some of his best songs were pop, and perfect pop at that. So choke on it.

Well I've opened up my veins too many times
And the poison's in my heart and in my mind
Poison's in my bloodstream, poison's in my pride
I'm after rebellion, I'll settle for lies
Is it any wonder my mind's on fire?
