I've enjoyed some metal since I was a little kid, but I didn't really dive deeper into it and start learning more until I was about 12 or 13. I wouldn't claim to be some sort of expert on this kind of music, and I instead prefer to learn as much as I can from sites like this one, as well as from people who are older than I am and who had the privilege of growing up alongside the scene. I was born at the tail end of an era in 1988, just about when metal would begin its descent into what is heavily hated on sites like this one; mainstream nu-metal and metalcore. My generation is unfortunately home to plenty of young adults and kids who can't look past Slipknot and see the real deal.
