A Guide For Fixing / Creating Splits: This guide is set up as a reminder (for myself), as well as to help anyone seeking to fix or add splits to MA. It follows the proper MA policies. (1) If ALL the bands in the split are on MA Go to the first band that's listed on the split and choose "Add A Split Release." Put in all the required data, the number of bands, and the IDs for those bands. Then add the tracks and any other information (lyrics, cover art, duration) that you know. Here is an example as to how it should look: http://www.metal-archives.com/release.php?id=21270 (2) If only ONE band in the split is on MA Go to that band, and choose "Add a single-CD release." Choose the option for a "Split Album" from the drop down list. Add in any required information. When it prompts you for the number of tracks, put in the total tracks for all bands on the split. In the additional notes, make a list as such: Tracks 1-7 by Band 1 Tracks 8-19 by Band 2 Once that is done, add the tracks (as well if possible the lyrics, cover art and duration) for each band in their appropriate track numbers. Here is an example as to how it should look: http://www.metal-archives.com/release.php?id=5418 (3) If only SOME of the bands in the split are on MA, but NOT all Go to each band that is on MA and do the same procedures as in (2) of this guide. The only difference is that, when it comes to the additional notes, make a list like this, where the bands that are in MA are linked, and the ones that are not are bolded (without spaces!): Tracks 1-8: < a href='band.php?id=3540257258' >Band 1< /a > Tracks 9-28: < a href='band.php?id=3540257246' >Band 2< /a > Tracks 29-42: < b > Band 3 < /b > Tracks 43-53: < a href='band.php?id=3540257246' >Band 4< /a > Here is an example as to how it should look: http://www.metal-archives.com/release.php?id=215148 WHENEVER you go to provide the titles for the splits, there is a small caveat; if there is no title to the split do not title it "Split". Title it by the order the bands come on the split (eg. "Agathocles / Bad Acid Trip / Disgorge"). Make sure there is a space between the slashes! If each band has a separate title for their side of the split, use that instead. If the split as a whole has a single title, then use that. Priority always goes to choosing the most correct title. If you are still unsure about adding a split, don't hesitate to ask our experts here for advice: http://www.metal-archives.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=40650 This split release is an exception. Do not attempt to add it in a similar way! It is impossible to do this: http://www.metal-archives.com/release.php?id=21090 | |
