| Well, I got into metal in 2004, during the great metalcore explosion, and to make a long story short, I'll listen to anything metal, even nü and I'll defend it... for the most part.
my favourite bands of all time are Metallica, Pantera, Cannibal Corpse, Opeth, Slayer, The 3rd and the Mortal, Hellhammer/Celtic Frost/Apollyon Sun, Death/Control Denied, Vio-lence/Machine Head, Mayhem, Enslaved, Black Sabbath, Sepultura, Iron Maiden, Dark Tranquillty and In Flames. I live in Wichita, KS, so finding the Metal CD's on my wishlist is a pain in the ass. I mean, it's the home of Manilla Road, and I can't even find their stuff! Hopefully I can give the Wichita metal scene more exposure. I definatly prefer buying CD's over iTunes and what have you. It's a spiritual experiance tearing open a CD, spinning the fucker, and reading/singing along with the band, and e-purchaces sort of rob that feeling, but I'll cave in and e-buy Music if I cant fucking find them, but only as a last resort. Religiously... I just converted to Wicca and that's going pretty well, but you reading this don't care what my beliefs are, right? I mean shit, I'll go from 1349 to Tourniquet without even caring. People need to listen to the music and not lyrics anyway. My view on Nu Metal may get me in trouble here. Just because it has a very small rap influence and was insanley popular a decase ago in the states dosen't mean it isn't metal. To me bands like Slipknot and Korn are much more heavier, metallic, and entertaining than Thunderstonevand Gamma Ray. I try to argue that most Nu metal bands should be added to these archives, but there I go again trying to hope we all can get along. So, yeah. If you like all metal, I'll like all you if you have open minds and a love of all things metal. | |
