Shows potential... - 74%

What we have here is the first demo for the LLN band Vlad Tepes. Since the band have only released demos, I will review it like a debut album.

Let me start off by saying that this demo has fantastic riffs, many of which are thrash riffs; "In the Holocaust to the Natural Darkness" is filled with them. The production is awful, but not too bad compared to other black metal demos. The vocals are standard for black metal. They get the job done. The bass is there in the background, occasionally doing something unorthodox.

Now to my main gripe about this demo... the drums. I know they are young and primitive musicians, but the drums (especially on the first track) are way off time. Sometimes this takes away from what else is going on.

Overall, I think it is a relatively good demo. It just doesn't compare to later demos and splits.
