This is a pretty good album, by a pretty much unknown band. It's a cool combination of thrash and power, although definitely more power metal than thrash. Comparable to Iced Earth, if Iced Earth had decent riffs and didn't generally suck dick. The only negative thing about this album is that it's very bland. The songs are cool, but not really much more than that. It doesn't really leave an impression, and is therefore more of a "spin once a year" type of album.
The song length is also worth noticing, since the tracks are almost all +5 minutes long. This works very well, except on the title track where they overdo it, and the song is just not interesting enough to be 12 minutes long.
While the vocals leave much to be desired (sounds like an uninspired Jacob Hansen in Anubis Gate), the guitar solos and riffs makes up for it, and this is where they set themselves apart from Iced Earth. Varied riffing (usually triplets, of course, since it is thrash) and some pretty damn flashy solos. The drumming, while nothing special, gets the job done. The bass is there, but hardly noticable, which is probably the way it's supposed to be. The production is average. While it doesn't sound like it was recorded in a garage or a cardboard box, it isn't excellent.
I guess there's nothing thoroughly bad about this album. Perhaps it's because they have no real selling points, perhaps because it's not very catchy, whatever it is I rarely spin it, but I couldn't justify giving it a bad rating. Look into this if you're interested in better than average but boring power/thrash.
