Doh! - 40%

chaossphere, August 5th, 2003

Well, well... here's what happens when you mix shit and chocolate, in a musical sense. The two substances blend and the chocolate becomes inedible due to the presence of feces.

Here we have a HORRIBLE, pointless, pathetic excuse for a remix of "Dawn Of A New Age" done by the lame Norwegian electro-pop band Apoptygma Berzerk. This is the worst music ever. Merzbow wishes he could sound this pointless.

Then we get a rough, horribly recorded live version of Forheket, which is okay, and a re-recording of "Dark Castle In The Deep Forest" from the debut. Both are listenable but overall, pointless, due to the existence of far superior versions.

And, to add insult to injury, they decided to cover Motorhead's classic "Orgasmatron". Good idea in principle, but then they decided to add some pointless keyboard noises and remove all presence of bass, turning a crushing metal tune into an impotent squelch of boring drivel.

40 points for the songwriting alone of the middle two songs. Those two tracks could've been a decent 7" EP or something. Oh well.
