These songs would appear on "Under The Influence", Overkills 3rd album, after killing us with 2 previous killer albums "Feel The Fire" and "Taking Over", the change is quite obvious, the difference that stands out the most is Blitz' vocals, they are alot higher from here on in, on the previous albums, he was a bit more melodic.
"Hello From The Gutter" The classic Overkill song that just about every Metal fan knows, which is an all out riff/thrash fest, great chorus, and great solo also, also love the part where Blitz says "Welcome to the gutter, we've been expecting YOUUU, HAHAHAHAHA!", that just rules, this was also their second video, a cool video too.
"Head First" Opens with bass and drums, then moves into a midpaced riff, this song is pretty much midpaced all the way through, Verni really shows off on the bass here, a cool chorus, that makes you want to shout out along with the band, a shredding solo also, this song is not quite as good as "Hello From The Gutter", but it would be hard to beat that, it's just a good song.
If you pick this up, or hear it somewhere, and like it, I would run to the store and pick up "Under The Influence" right off, just so you can Shred!, yes Shred is the first song on the album.
WELCOME TO THE GUTTER!
