I just bought this album lastnight at a Serpens Aeon / Impaled show for 10 bucks, I was shocked to see it in the small 200 or so cd collection. I've been wanting to hear this for awhile because I knew Antonio Leon the drummer of The Chasm is in it. Well I snatched it up immediately. Fortunately since Serpens Aeon have 2 previous Chasm members (Erick, Luis). I talked to Erick about the cd after I bought it and he told me that all of the current members of The Chasm are on this cd. He let me know who was who because they use stage names, and their faces are also faded out, check the bands page on this website to see their stage and real names.
Ok, but finally onto the music. After the show when I got home I popped this in, and I was given a very celtic frost style thrash riff off the bat. Then immediately into some early bathory inspired black metal. Overall it has the feeling of black metal but with the killer solo's of thrash metal.
Daniel Corchado handles the guitar and bass work, with Julio Viterbo on Guitar as well, and I must say even though this album has a raw production the guitars and bass come out clear and audible sounding nothing like The Chasms guitar work at all. Antonio Leon's drumming is for the most part a constant variation of blast beats which you wont find in The Chasm. Martin's vocals are very good I think. They are performed in a black metal manner but the words are very audible, but don't think its audible in a way that they are clean, they are very much good raw black metal vocals, just understandable.
There are 10 songs on this cd, with a hidden 11th track. I dont know the name of it though. This album will be well worth your money if you see it somewhere. If your a fan of The Chasm, or just a fan of the early thrash/black metal scene you'll like this album.
