8 Songs, 3 Riffs - 30%

I don't know where to start. This album is so monotonous and emotionless that there isn't actually all that much to point out. Now, I know that these guys only have a few thousand fans, but underground doesn't necessarily mean good. To be truthful, this garbage only deserves reviews to assert how bad it is.

As soon as I saw the album artwork, I knew that this was a band that wasn't going to be doing anything new or innovative. Turns out, my fears came true. That's probably my biggest complaint about this album. They're doing the same technique that slam death metal has done since the mid 90s: masturbate the 3 lowest strings while never going past the 5th fret. Occasionally throw in a pinch harmonic to make your guitar playing sound more than mediocre. Even if I'm wrong, it sure as hell sounds like that.

My second complaint? The annoying movie samples in the song intros. I know these guys are just trying to be funny/creative, but it just comes off as annoying to me. I'm here to listen to actual music, not a clip of dialogue from South Park. Hell, the first whole first half of Slam-Induced Groovitoid Groovitis is just some guy screaming at someone named Larry for "fucking a stranger in the ass". Cut me a break.

Another thing that really irks me is the tuning of the snare drum. It sounds almost as headache-inducing as Lars's snare sound from St. Anger. People complain all the time about how Slipknot's percussion sounds like pots and pans. Please hear me out when I say that this is just as bad, if not worse for that.

The vocalist... is actually not half-bad. He has a lot of depth and he sounds like he has a natural talent for this. Only thing, I've never been very impressed by vocals that sound like a grossly overweight pig letting out a huge burp. I know it takes talent to do, but talent doesn't necessarily mean appealing to the listener, as Cerebral Incubation has proved.

Overall, this is an unoriginal, boring, mediocre waste of music data. Listening to this album in 2 sittings was somewhat difficult to do. If there's anything positive to remark here, it's that this album is only 21 minutes long, so your IQ is only lowered for that amount of time. If you're an absolute insane fanboy of modern Slam, maybe I would suggest you preview it on YouTube before you throw any cash together. If not, do yourself a favour and save it up for something like Effigy Of The Forgotten.
