The force of darkness - 88%

cinedracusio, December 16th, 2005

This is a small release from arguably the best band of LLN, Belketre. This piece of black metal is worth hearing, although it is composed unfortunately only of four tracks. The guitar tone is almost punk-oriented, with the hateful sonorities of black metal. Better get into the individual tracks:
01.The Dark Promise - A rocky, mid-paced start with menacing riff and the demented Belketre vocals, and also audible bass lines. The hatred in the vocals is with the riff from the refrain the high point. At the middle section of the song, a blastbeating passage, returning to the refrain in the end.
02.Despair - Morose guitar picking. At times it sounds hopeful, then falling back in even deeper pain. A single riff with desperate subtleties.
03.Twilight Of The Black Holocaust - Certainly the best song. Starting off with a very tragical, piercing solo. Spitting, indecipherable monologue about the incoming darkness. Then Vordb shows his abilities. Great war drumming, march, the mandatory blasting section. Simple riffs, but laden with destruction and menace. Amazing.
04.Hatred - The shortest song here. The guitars sound pretty confused, almost sweet. Then a moment of silence, before everything gets dark and a high pitched demon starts vomiting his curses over fallen humanity and God. The essence of Belketre.
This is recommended to those who want to get just a sample from the destroyer of life that Belketre was. Enjoy it.
