"Abonos" is one of the least known gothic metal bands of all time, I found this band in '07 while looking for gothic metal bands because I had aquired a liking for the genre. I eventually stumbled across "Abonos". This band writes all their lyrics in serbian, and because I don't know serbian I don't have to pay attaention to what they sing, and I can focus on the music. Now, for starters, I never cared to listen to "Abonos", so really this is my their first impression on me. With that said, this is pretty tasteful.
The song starts with a nice bass line and acoustic guitar combo until the drums and a kind of faint violin or flute sound comes in that just compliments everything. Then the electric guitar comes in. The riffs are catchy and heavy with a galloping feeling, though labeled gothic metal, "Abonos" also has a thrash side, and the guitar riffs reflect that nicely. The vocalist has talent and uses two different styles for this song, a lower chest voice that is more for a hard rock sound and an operatic head voice, these two styles fit the guitars well and compliment themselves nicely as she switches back and forth between the two styles. The drums are definitely there and not smothered by vocals or keyboards like many other bands of the same genre, come to think about it there aren't any keyboards at all. This track is pretty good, it has a lot of power behind it, if you like this kind of thrash influinced gothic metal look into "Abonos".
