Xandria - Xandria

Demo, self produced
1997
[add/edit review]
line up on the demo:
Marco Heubaum – Vocals, Guitar
Niki Weltz – Drums
Andreas Litschel – Keys
Holger Klein – Bass
Manuel Vinke – Guitar
Nicole Tobien – Additional Vocals

Although some sources claim Holger Vester to have played bass on this recording,
he did not join the band until after the recording of this demo. The bass on
this demo was in fact recorded by Holger Klein.

Demo from the "first" band Xandria that split up soon after the recording, that
has been done on Yamaha 8-track-tape recorder in the beginning of 1997. After
that Marco searched for new musicians to found the reincarnation of the band in
1999 with the songs of the second demo that has been recorded in 2000 then (see
band history in "Bandhistory").
This earliest sign of Xandria from 1997 already had the dark atmospheric metal
base, inspired by the bands of that time like Tiamat or Paradise Lost, and
included even some elements of songs that later became known as tracks of the
official albums ("So You Disappear", which was the very first Xandria song,
"Wisdom" or "So Sweet", that has been re-recorded as a B-side of the
"Eversleeping" EP), but due to the lack of experience and very different musical
interests of the bandmembers (that also led to the split then) it sounded very
strange and not very good. So it could not have been the piece that brought the
band to success already. It was never released publically, but only has been
burned to CD-R some times for friends and getting gigs and a little promotion in
their hometown.
