Tokyo-based Moon Records was originally founded in 1982 as Alfa / Moon by Ryūzō Kosugi as a sister label to Alfa Records. In 1990, it was added under the umbrella of Warner Music Group. At this point, it merged with the Mother & Children and Garland labels and using the first letters of all three labels, MMG became the new company's name.
In 1993, the label changed its name to EastWest Japan. Finally in 2003, EWJ was taken over by Warner Music Japan and became one of its sub-labels.
Currently serves as a 'private label' for 山下達郎 [Tatsuro Yamashita] & Mariya Takeuchi releases.
Acquired by Warner Bros. music in 1989.
Founded by Ryūzō Kosugi [小杉理宇造].
