So your saying Witcher that if the song has no guitar it is not metal? If the band doesn't use a guitarist it isn't metal? Is that the case?

I think that metal is a feeling and no one instrument creates it.

But hey it's cool.

Yes, it is the case.
Feeeling is an abstract category, nobody comes home and says to his wife "honey, I'm feeling so metal today..."
You cannot measure it, describe it or evaluate it.
Metal is a musical genre and as such, needs certain instrumentation plus songwriting.

Feelings have nothing to do with music theory and musical categories.

Bands can play metal without guitars, but they are the exception rather than the rule... see Necromantia, who has the occasional guitar lead but most of the time it's just the bass. I can also grant that there could be a metal band out there using only synthesized guitars that sound just like the real thing, but still, it's not just a matter of "feel", it has to sound like metal, and as I said, those cases are exceptionally rare.

DaddyZeus67, stop posting the pseudo-signature. If you want to have a sig, create one, but without the image on it.

As for Powersurge Bangladesh, they are metal, but the problem is, that the "mixed releases" are in fact unacceptable v/a compilations. Somebody would have to prove, that they have releases on their own.

hello there, I recently submitted profiles two quite popular metal bands from bangladesh which unfortunately got rejected. I hope some proofs of their released materials will help.. Here are a a Few of Their Releases.

Vibe's Full-Length Album - Chena Jogot

Powersurge's Single - Durboddho Manushotto (originally released in a mixed album)

A Video of Powersurge's Live Performance of Mithher Agrashon

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdzRqCF2BjA

(I hope this is sufficient proof for both bands)

O.K., Vibe are acceptable, even if the number of ballads is quite high.

But as for Powersurge, see above.

Do you understand, what is a V/A compilation and a physical single ?
Single is not just a song online, we here adhere to the original definition of it.

You should read the rules, first and foremost. They are crystal clear on that.

When some morons decide to add compilation tracks as singles, it is another problem. Such releases should be deleted and the submitters warned or punished.

Good day, I hope you're all doin' fine.

Yesterday, I submitted a band named T.U.R.I.E.L., from Honduras, but it was rejected. The reason was that the band "had no apparent discography". However, I had added the link to their myspace, and to their official website, apart from their three CD singles with detailed information.

This is their official website:

http://turiel.es.tl/

This is their myspace:

http://www.myspace.com/turielband

Here you can download their three CD singles:

Once again, a single is a physical release, not a download song online.

I suppose that is a valid point Witcher about the guitar thing.

feeling wasn't the right word but I'm lost at what is.

But I don't think a band should be immediatly rejected simply because of instrumentation.

But it is a big part definitely.

Nice job running the place
PROPS!

Text only, links are OK as long as you don't link to objectionable stuff. It helps if you read the rules before posting.

Right, so do you consider Broken Bones to be thrash?
http://www.4shared.com/file/37714070/fa ... _FOAD.html
Used to be Discharge-styled hardcore (duh, Bones is former Discharge guitarist), but late 80's turned them crossover at the same time Discharge did.

I know that I am more open to non-old school metal bands, but if this band is not metal then what is that? And if you want to tell me this is alternative well this is the kind of acceptable alternative metal although I don't label the band under such genre but I am predicting your reply (based on the Cdbaby description) and this is also not the non-acceptable experimental metal genre anyway I would label the band as avant-garde metal and fitting well in MA although being accepted to MA or not that wont change the clearly acceptable metalness of this band did you even listen to the whole album before judging?

"Alternative" CRAP.Pure metal is Heavy/Speed/Power/Doom/Death/Black/Thrash genres. Can you concentrate on these? For example I in most of cases try to avoid CORE/ALTERNATIVE bands in my subbmisions even know they can get accepted.

Witcher
Can you explain why "Shadow Dancers" from Norway isn't acceptable for MA? Still can't find any explanation that this isn't metal.
I have this CD, if you need samples, I can upload full CD.

To ask without songsamples or links has no sense, since I do not remember the band.
This goes for all who ask here.

The name sounds rather gothic.

Hello, I want to submit the band Arcady from Colombia (black metal), but this message appears:

"Unless it's a different band with the same name, Arcady has previously been rejected for not being metal or otherwise acceptable by our rules. Therefore, your submission has been pre-emptively rejected.
If you really think this is a mistake (for example: the band in question shares the name and country of a famous non-metal band, a non-metal band recently released a metal full-length album, etc.), please check with us on the forums"

I communicated with the band and I have the complete demo's information... The band plays black metal and released two demos distributed in MySpace.

Do you understand, that songs on myspace do not constitute a physical release? Rule 7, indeed. Neither do downloads.
Physical release - Lp, CD, Cd-r, tape, DVD, VHS Tape.

1. There are no band's songs on MySpace.
2. Both demos was released as cd-r and distributed in shows and MySpace.
3. Info about demos I got with the same band.

I'm curious, is it possible for a band with no physical releases to be accepted if there's enough? If for some reason, such as lack of funds or something, they can't press any physical copies, but are a serious band, and have one or more full-lengths for download, is that acceptable? Or what about paid downloads instead of free? I'm just wondering, since not all bands with only mp3s are bedroom MySpace bands.

Also, what's the word on Broken Bones?

No, not under current rules. There was only one owners approved exception, and in the case, we even cannot be sure if the band did not have at least physical releases for their friends.

As for users submitted stuff, there is no exception. The rule is clear.

Paid downloads do not change anything.

The point, once again is not the quality of such bands, but to sort out bands, that will leave no lasting physical legacy to the metal world, no lasting monument of their work. That is why myspace bands were such a problem.

Seriousness of such bands is as an abstract and unmeasurable category is the" metal feeling" mentioned elsewhere here.

It was also discussed countless times, and you have a pregnantly written rule. No means no, there is nothing to be solved.
