I don't know if anyone has suggested this before, but I searched and it didn't come up with anything, so I think i'll ask.

Has anyone ever thought of putting a random button, like below the search, that would pick a radom page for you (something like all the Wiki's have)? I don't think it's that effective to just close your eyes and pick a country, then close your eyes and pick a band.

I think that it would be a great way to randomly come across a page and help you discover a new band... Minus all the times that you come up with Aryan Kampf 88 and friends.

I'm surprised that some of you would use such a feature.

This would actually be pretty sweet. You could discover random, obscure bands this way (maybe). And surely it wouldn't it wouldn't be that hard to implement either.

A lot (and I mean a LOT) of the numbers lead to error pages.

What he said. I'll go with that defense.

metal is pretty much god to me, but just because i love it does not mean it's my only love. you guys put up such a great metalhead oriented site, i was wondering if any of you with classic and alternative rock tendencies might be willing to make a site dedicated to such genres (a sister site to encyclopedia metallum). it might take more monitoring to keep out shitty emo bands under the "alternative" label, but i just want something for my Pearl Jam, my Red Hot Chili Peppers, my Zeppelin, my Neil Young and my Tom Petty. plz dont shoot! it's just a suggestion!

Many have sugested this such a companion site in the past for various things. Some have said they were engaged in creating such a site. So far nothing has come of any of these.

A bit off topic, but the more often people open threads just labelled "Suggestion", the harder will it get to do a successful search for a topic discussed earlier...

It would take dozens upon hundreds of clicks to actually find a band you want to get into.

That is a varible that I am willing to chance really. You can't just dismiss the idea just because of a variable.

So many bands here don't have any information or links to actually check the bands out with, just discography and basic information. It would take dozens of clicks just to find a band you can properly explore, is my problem with this.

EDIT: Besides, can't you just click on bands with cool names or search albums with a concept you care about or something? This site's so damn organized as it is, finding a new band should only take the smallest bit of effort.
