Hi!

While updating the Skid Row page I also added 3 promos (of which I’m pretty sure that they are acceptable). However, I still don’t know where you draw the line between a valid and a useless release.

For example, is a Radio Sampler like this OK? http://eil.com/shop/moreinfo.asp?catalogid=381116

Even more so, are flexis from magazines like this acceptable? http://www.musicstack.com/album/skid+row/piece+of+me

Last but not least, does anyone know if these are valid releases or bootlegs?

1. Hit The Skids

2. In Your Face
http://cgi.ebay.de/SKID-ROW-In-Your-Fac ... dZViewItem
That one even appears on the Discogs - site (and usually they are pretty strict): http://www.discogs.com/release/780453

3. Skid Row Live 1992 (DVD)

No, I have always deleted radio samples and promos, because, doing a little radio show for a couple years, basically every larger label release has a promo or a radio sample CD given out, usually congruent with the full release.

They are really just a portion of the album, and really not relevant, and not really part of the discography.

As for whether those releases are bootlegs are not, I couldn't tell you.

Thanks for your reply! However, the main reason why I started this thread was the fact that a lot of flexis given away by magazines are circulating, i.e. the policy in this regard should be clear or otherwise this site will someday be cluttered with (possibly) unwanted releases!

Fore example, a search at http://www.musicstack.com/ for Label: ”Kerrang” / Format: 7” or 7” PS yields 32 results and that’s just the Kerrang flexis sold at Musickstack!

(BTW, I’m pretty sure now, that those live albums and the DVD are bootlegs.)

Flexis given away by magazines are not valid. There might be some exceptions, bu that's the rule of thumb.
