Wouldn't it be better to show the translations instead of iiöóüüüüää or something until this is fixed? For instance: Alkonost's new album is called "Путь Непройденный", the M-A shows it as "Ïóòü Íåïðîéäåííûé"... this is senseless...

Yes it is... I agree on this. That jumble looks really pointless

About cyrillic text... my understanding is that it doesn't work at all on the archives, correct?

So, would it be more appropriate to show the romanized version of song/band/album names? For example, the latest Rusich (Ukr) album is called:

Велич Богив У Наших Серцях

The archives displays this as:

Âåëè÷ áîãiâ ó íàøèõ ñåðöÿõ

If it were changed to the romanized version:

Velich Bogiv U Nashih Sercjah

It would actually be readable, and no translation is necessary. Good idea?

You can change the encoding in your browser to make the cyrillic text display well. It usually works fine for me.

So, if I understand right, it's not a problem of the site but of the browser used?

:)

Yes, on most releases I see the cyrillic script just fine, too.

Cyrillic maybe yes but check for exemple Aggressor (Jpn) what do you see? By me are only squares in the line up

Nope, it's also a problem of the site.

I too only have problems with Cyrillic only on this site, it displays fine everywhere else. :???: Is there a certain setting you have to change on your browser? I have gotten this problem with both Firefox and IE, I've never seen Cyrillic displayed properly on the archives.

Oddly enough I can see the Japanese characters fine on that page.

Windows Update in optional updates, download all web language packs that'll fix it. It doesn't fix the problem others in this thread are having but it'll solve your problem I believe.
