I guess it is high time to make a thread about the growing number of bootlegs that are circulating in the scene

Many of you have been astonished recently because they were dursted for adding bootlegs

"oh I did not know it was a bootleg"

Let's use this thread to make a list (as complete as possible) and afterwards, people, you won't have ANY excuse if you add Bootlegs

Let's add mostly the most "known" bootlegs circulating, those which are often added by users

If you are not sure about an album you wish to add but you are not sure if it is official or not , just ask here for confirmation

I'll update this list regularly to make a "summary" of the bootlegs on the list on this 1st page

Thanks

Good idea.

sticky topic. Labels like Decapitated Rec., Headache Rec., Reborn Classics, Seraphic Decay/Skin Drill, Turbo Rec. and Wild Rags Rec. (just some very few examples) released stuff against the bands' will and mainly ripping them off too. Therefore I would call them also Bootlegs, but this is a tough one.

On the other hand, a lot of stuff is currently pressed with black labels, carved-out matrix-numbers, which is totally illegal, not approved by the band (if not even being asked) and therefore very bootleggy.

anyone familiar with burzum - 'draugen - rarities'? its a "bootleg" released by back on black records who officially released 6 burzum albums on vinyl recently. would this be classed as a bootleg (for not being released with the bands approval) or an official release (say, like how the oath of black blood is an official beherit release)?

http://www.audioglobe.it/2005/10/803341213524.asp

bootlegs don't usually get long reviews in terrorizer and get sold in HMV :S

Usually we do not consider those releases as bootlegs. As for Turbo records, are you thinking about Beherit? It's not their fault that Holocausto and friends were fucking dumb.

Great topic Christkiller :)

Hmm the only one I can think of off the top of my head that hasn't been added is:

Moonblood - Fullmoon Witchery

I consider a lot of Turbo stuff as Bootlegs. Not only Beherit, but also Goatlord, Coldsteel, Malicious Onlslaught... I don't know if any band got any money by Turbo or allowed them to release something. Also the post-Turbo label Metal Age released stuff, which was considered bootleg by the bands (Monstrosity, first Diabolic CD).
But compared to Seraphic Decay or Reborn Classics, the Turbo guys were just sheeps among wolves...so to say. (Mainly visible in the amount of "Death treats" I guess). ;)

Nice list we have already built :)

So thanks to those who can help completing it in the future

So as I did with peterott, i shall edit the big list on this 1st page, so that we avoid having bootleg lists posted everywhere here, it will make this thread easier

So when your bootlegs have been added by me in the general list, you can delete your post or edit it (I/we shall try to avoid having a 20 page thread hehe)

You can also PM the lists of course

Thanks

:lol: Still hearing that Vlad Tepes bootleg Sounds of the Dolphin still exists. Makes me think about Echo being on the cover.

I reported it as a bootleg but it has never been fixed. According to ARCHGOAT members, this particular release did not have the band's agreement and should be considered as a bootleg.

Maybe they didn't agree, but Necropolis had the rights to release it. Btw, don't even mention Judas Priest and Gull records.

Strange, the split with Beherit is the only reason people know who the hell Archgoat is in the first place, why bitch about it?

Coroner - "The Unknown - Unreleased tracks 1985-95" MC

=> not a bootleg. Tape was sold by the band themself on their last three farewell gigs in France and Switzerland in 1995/1996.

In this case, we should not consider Tragic Empire Records' MÜTIILATION re-issues as bootlegs :roll:, since only the band didn't agree (and their new label, but it doesn't count).

My brother has a Metallica compilation called "Ultra Rare Trax", out on a label with a very suspicious name, I think it might even have been as obvious as "Bootleg Records" or something like that. Well, I very much doubt its an official release.

Yes, I am interested in a trade, I've got a lot of rare demos+bootlegs and such. Ulver being my favorite band, and also being a metal collector, these are two things I'm really gonna want.

PM me so we can talk.

I wanna hear some tracks also before I trade, just so I know it's for real and such.

Not sure if this split is the one already listed as Mayhem/Thou Shalt Suffer but it is called "The True Black' featuring Zemial, Mayhem, Thou Shalt Suffer.

@metalive:
The Strid CD you mention is questionable. It looks professional, and maybe approved by the band. The LP version though (from a different label, carved out matrix number on the vinyl) is a bootleg.

@visionary:
Mayhem/Thou Shalt Suffer is the title a printed on the CD. The guy who made this bootleg named the Zemial tracks as "unreleased Mayhem tx". What an idiot. The name Zemial is nowhere mentioned on the CD.

@christkiller:
Brutality "Metamorphasis - Dimension Demented
--> not a bootleg, as sold by the band themselves (at least I bought it from Larry Sapp)

bootlegs to add:
Gorgoroth - Demos+Live LP
Possessed / Entombed - Demos Split 7" EP

I have a album by Morgion called Doomination Tour Bootleg. Its a cd they distributed on their last tour, it has some live songs from 98 and songs that at the time were unreleased. Given that its a release sanctioned by the band, Can I submit this without it being rejected?

Yes, you can. Just remember to write that info in the additional notes.

Nope, it's not a bootleg. It's even listed in Mayhem's official site as an official release.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. That guy who made the bootleg should be shot as Zemial sound nothing like Mayhem.
