I dont know about you, but i am sick of seeing archived bands that dont have Anything released.
according to the Guidelines page, section #7, bands whom are submitted to the site MUST have SOMETHING released.

some of these bands are no even real and were just submitted so the losers who "fromed the band" will get some recognition by having their pics/names/"band" listed on the site.

If anyone knows of such bands, please post them here so the modorators wont have such a hard task of tracking them down.

here are some, all israeli by the way:

*Alba Solaris - no releases + the band broke up so there will be no releases.
*dark serpent
*deface
*epitaphia
*excessum

There are also the bands who dont exist At All and have invented releases for themselves, but thats for another time and another thread.

Dark Serpent : The band released one demo in 2000 (cf additionnal notes)
Epitaphia : in 98 they released a demo tape (cf link)

verify before if there's really no release on the links or additionnal notes

my mistake, i should have checked before that they didnt list any FAKE demos anywhere else.
i'll keep them for the thread of bands who make up releases, dont know when it will be done though.

The cleansing has already begun with the nuking of 4 fake bands

I guess we will now be more careful towards bands made by teenagers... and ask for more proofs

search the net for info on bands if they have no releases added. don't just presume that they haven't got any

if they do have a demo but tracklisting isn't known then it should be listyen in additional notes to make sure people realise

I must report one band, which I, myself, had submitted in my early days of the Archives, mistakenly, thinking that they had some music released. That band is Amaranthyne, a melodic Black Metal band from Maryland. The group still seems to be active, though with considerable line up changes, but there's no news on whether or not they actually have any demos released. So, this band which I had submitted ever so long ago can be rightfully nuked. :)

After checking their website, no releases as you said so I nuked it

Feel free to add it again when you see they have released a demo or else :)

I deleted Alba Solaris, Deface and Excessum. If it turns out the others are fake too we'll nuke them as well.

Thanks for your help, Warmachine. I was told by another Israeli member that it seems there is an epidemic of poseurs from the local scene trying to invent fake bands, sabotaging band pages, etc. Go figure...

no problem, glad to be of service and keep the site clean from them.
although some of the bands you've mentioned are not exacly fake but should not be on the site as have no releases and the site's rules requires a band that is submitted to have atlest one release (doesnt seem like too much to ask).

hehe, i'm not at all surprised that this fictional-band thing is so popular here, i've seen these stuff happen in israeli "metal"-fourms and sites in the past.

more israelis here took notice of this ? may i ask who ?

VileRancour, and someone else mentioned something like that once, it might have been Elad but I'm not sure.

i have a question about somthing like this... a band i want to submit is under the side-preject rule (yes, for once, i'm absolutly positive about this...and yes, metal, not grindcore like i usually try to submit ;)) but so far they only have one song released. they have been around for a few years, atleast 1999 i think, but have yet to officially release anything... but they have a split EP coming out later this year finally

so is that one song, and the fact that its a side-band, enough info to be added? or should i wait untill the split is released?

Of course not, it has to be at least a demo - a demo in physical form, distributed among people, I think the guidelines and FAQ sections are quite explanative about this.

well err... Antira (belgium) haven't really recorded a demo yet, although they're on the site. the "unreleased demo" on their homepage is just the songs they have composed so far. I know the guitarist so I'm certain of this.

edit: never mind :), they got nuked already it seems.

"Rebel Red Throne"

I made a thread about this band a long time ago to see if anyone could prove its existance because it looked fake, (last time it was accepted it had album covers made in mspaint) and it was deleted along with all the bands the user submitted (a lot were fake, too many to tell which were real and not..) I made a report on this band this time it was submitted but noone has gotten to it apparently. Maybe the guy who submitted it this time could tell us where he got this information and heard of this "band", it seems odd that two people would submit the same fake band, especially with it getting accepted twice...

I removed the band after the guitarist left a report asking us to remove it UNTIL their demo is released

Unreleased demo is not a valid release guys :)

Damn

The Archives is full of fake bands now

I'll have from now ZERO tolerance for bands without info or mp3...

recently many fake bands have been added

BANDS FROM IRAN should be for most rejected unless we get A LOT of proofs

Also bands with rehearsals, demos etc but no mp3 will be rejected (and i'll remove A LOT of points now and I DO NOT CARE if you come on forum to whine)

:)

Have a good day ;)

I was a bit surprised to see Parkway Drive deleted
they may look (and have a name) that reeks of 'core' but these guys are the real deal

I suggest some of the mods have a listen to their EP cos it has more to do with death metal than hardcore regardless of the label they are on. Here in Australia they are causing a pretty big stir among the show-goers and are definatley a band of the future especially when you consider their young age.

Meanwhile Mr. Bungle and Tomahawk remain...

Monokrohm of Norway have no discography listed and their webpage is down. I'm not sure how it was accepted in the first place.

i just downloaded their new album a couple of weeks ago, and i have listend to a few earlier released MP3s, to me they sound way to close the hardcore side.

just because a band has a solo in a few songs does not immediately constitute it as metal. they have more breakdowns than anything...

I still have no problem putting them on my metal compilations
