Initially released as a MCD in 2005, and sold out since a long time due to a quite confidential pressing, the first recording of OSSUAIRE is now available again as a tape, with reworked artwork.

Expect four songs of old school Death metal with ferocious moments à la old Morbid Angel, heavier war patterns à la old Bolt Thrower, barbaric feelings, obscure atmospheres, and lyrics depicting the horrors and atrocities from the medieval times.

The cover was printed on beige, 120 grams paper, to give a more "ancient" touch.

OSSUAIRE (Which translates as "Ossuary" in english) incarnates old school death metal darkness and brutality, from the depths of France, and emerged from nothingness in a time when few were concerned with the style. Their recordings deserve to approach more carapace souls, and possibly to plant the seed of medieval barbarity.

Une réédition de chez NIHILISTIC HOLOCAUST de toute beauté vient de voir le jour ! Il s’agit de la démo d’OSSUAIRE, un groupe francais de death brutal qui avait sorti cette démo en 2005. Pas de seconde jeunesse pour cette démo, ce n’est juste qu’une réédition sans rien de plus.
Pour ma part ça me suffit largement car parfois les rééditions se voient affublées d’un tas de merde dispensable en bonus.
Musicalement c’est sauvage et totalement bien branlé, a un tel point que j’ai monté le son de mes enceintes jusqu’à un niveau quasiment déraisonnable.. Pour les voisins.. Paix à leurs amés édentées et déjà séniles que seules les couches adultes sauvent de la déchéances. Non j’aime bien mes voisins !
L'Eveil des Morts (Intro), Le Troubadour Necrophagéophile, Le Fléau, Necrofistum Prima Nocte,Trolla Infectum Phallus sont les titres qui garnissent cette démo quasiment indispensable tellement elle est sale et intéressante musicalement. Des démos comme ça j’en veux tous les jours. Tout est underground et pourtant le chant est démentiel sur chacun des titres. Il me fait penser à Chris Reifert, dans son approche crade. D’ailleurs la musique c’est un peu du Autopsy gorgé de testostérone.
Ossuraire c’est bien, c’est bon et c’est surtout très éfficace. Alors si vous aimez les effluves de
putréfaction, ou les gaz émanant d’un cadavre bleui par la décomposition, cette démo ne peut que vous ravir. Par contre si vous aimez la musique bien léchée, c’est aussi pour vous ,car je suis sûr que vous tirerez un plaisir honteux à écouter cette zik efficacement cradingue.

Ist ja doch in letzter Zeit verstärkt mal wieder angesagt ,olles Zeug aus der Versenkung hervorzuholen und dies nun erneut auf Euch loszulassen ,zumal ja die Welle an old school Death Metal Veröffentlichungen erst so richtig begonnen hat ,an Fahrt aufzunehmen .Bereits 2005 haben die Franzosen das mit 5 Songs bestückte Teil rausgehauen und lassen uns Anfangs erst einmal mit Glockenläuten und leichten Windgeräuschen in Erwartung schwelgen .Dauert aber nicht wirklich lange und dann betritt man auch schon brutalere Wege .Recht dunkel gehalten ,zelebriert man dann Death Metal der alten Schule ,welche sicherlich zum größten Teil seinen Ursprung im amerikanischen Sektor wiederfindet .Gespickt mit massig fetten und vor allem brutalen Elementen ,zeigen die aber auch immer wieder mal ihre Fingerfertigkeit an dem Saiteninstrumente auf und legen ein paar echt gelungene Gitarrenarrangements an den Tag .Hierbei kriegen‘s die Typen dann auch vollkommen hin , die Atmosphäre der alten Death Metal Schule ganz deutlich hervorzuzaubern bzw. rüberzubringen .Gesangsmäßig wird hier natürlich im typischen tiefen Growlbereich herumgewerkelt ,was aber so halt einfach nur passt und auch so sein muss .Also ,ich bin schon irgendwie recht positiv bei der Mucke gestimmt , zumal ich mich halt erwische ,das ich nach den leider nur knapp 18 min . gleich noch mal die PLAY Taste gedrückt habe . Die Band hat(te) es auf jeden Fall wirklich verdammt gut drauf , auch wenn ihre musikalische Darbietung an sehr vielen Stellen doch verdammt stark an die Anfangsjahre von „Morbid Angel „ erinnert .Aber drauf geschissen ,die Mucke reißt mit ,macht an und bietet für ein Tape einen durchaus ansprechenden Sound .Dafür kann man getrost nen Plätzchen in seiner Sammlung freihalten ! BRUTALISM Webzine (Hol)
This is a re-release of this French death metal bands 2005 demo tape, although listening to the tracks I would swear it was from the early 90’s. This is savage old school death metal. The production is perfect for the style, it’s creepy and earthy in all the right places and the music itself is like a dismembering ritual on a harlot from hell or at best the most daunting music to teach any particular person that pisses you off a real lesson in assaulting death metal!
There are a few atmospherics, the title track ‘Le troubadour nécrophageophile ‘ is savage, with the brutality of the early Florida scene, the guttural vocal attack of later brutal death metal with an overall sound that’s sounds like war, especially with the blast beats added. ‘Necrofistum prima nocte’ again tugs at the heartstrings of the death metal purist, groovy and battering, even underneath some pretty raw production. Bolt Thrower may spring to mind, but that’s too easy, but you get the meaning, its getting towards that stage of naming every early 90’s death metal band as an influence, which I feel is from both sides of the pond, i.e. Europe and the USA.
Refreshing is how I would describe this release, old school is bounded around a lot for bands that play a particular style, you may be fed up of hearing that term, but this is one of those releases that actually feels right to be tagged in such a way. The vintage is perfect and if you want to burst a blood vessel, bang your head and smash shit up, then Ossuaire know how to provide that perfect soundtrack. 4/5. Maul Madison

As said in our first issue, I admire underground tape labels like Nihilistic Holocaust from France. This time Gabriel of NH re-released the demo of French Death Metal act Ossuaire, who released this demo back in 2005. The booklet of the tape just has the right attitude, everything is illustrated and cut & paste. And it is printed on beige paper, to give it an ancient feeling. Mission accomplished! The demo consists of 3 tracks and an intro, all in a dark and obscure atmosphere. Although it speculating about the lyrics, but it seems to be about a damned and perverse Troubadour (a folk poet-singer), who tells about all the horrors and insupportable scenes he could see, and be involved in. Isn’t that hunky-dory! The atmosphere is definitely all about smelling the stench during the Plague-era. Music wise you can expect a mixture of old Morbid Angel and early Cannibal Corpse. So there is a bit of complexity as well as old school brutality. During “Le Flèau” you can hear some Bolt Thrower groove, but I would like to keep the Bolt Thrower reference only for this track. Hop, aujourd'hui on va faire du déterrage de compétition. Dans le genre produit du terroir bien cryptique dont personne aurait entendu parler sans un petit coup de pouce. Une obscure démo sortie il y a dix ans dans les fins fonds du 4-7, d'un groupe n'ayant par la suite publié qu'un unique full-length en 2010, bien hardcore à trouver comme il faut. Et donc, cette démo de 2005 avec un nom à coucher mémé dans les orties avec l'eau du bain a finalement été exhumée par le brigadier Français de Nihilistic Holocaust, à qui on doit pas mal de petites sorties de groupes grandissants, rééditant en cassette le machin (alors que la sortie de 2005 s'était faite en CD, mais extrêmement limitée). Bref, on va voir de quoi il retourne comme d'habitude, mais pas mal de choses mettent la puce à l'oreille quand à ce qu'on va pouvoir trouver là dessus.
Déjà, ce titre. "Le Troubadour Nécrophageophile". Bon d'accord ça ne veut rien dire, ou à la rigueur ça lance la saga d'un légendaire ménestrel ayant pour vocation de violer les ennemis de Morsay. Mais, tout ça pose une ambiance médiévale dans le sens hanté par la Peste Noire. Pas le groupe non. Et on voit aussi qu'en 2011 nos frenchy ont participé à un split en compagnie de rien de moins que Darkenhöld, Aorlhac et Ysengrin, donc là, voilà, on sait où on met les pieds : du bon gros Black Metal à tendance médiévale, un peu ritualiste mais sachant surtout arracher la gueule. Yep. Mais en fait non, perdu. Parce qu'Ossuaire donne simplement dans un gros Death Metal à malfaisant et malsain, comme un Incantation mais vu de l'autre côté de l'Inquisition, toujours ennemi de Dieu mais cette fois du côté de la plèbe bouffée par la gangrène plutôt que les démons. Parce que si tout est efficace, une aura assez maladive se dégage de la musique, ce qui plonge dans une ambiance étrange changeant un peu. Surtout grâce à cette intro kitsch à souhait, forcément croustillante pour les amateurs du genre.
Un peu hein. Parce que bon, on va pas non plus se leurrer, c'est pas la démo du siècle. Maaaaais quelque chose s'en dégage et malgré le fait que les compositions soient au final assez basiques et passe-partout, le tout est ultra bien branlé et prometteur. On retient d'ailleurs surtout les deux derniers titres, "Necrofistum Prima Nocte" pour sa brutalité frénétique et "Trolla Infectum Phallus" pour ses riffs bien plus travaillés que tout le reste. Le son fait démo mais est tout sauf dégueulasse. Enfin si mais dans le bon sens du terme. On manque de cohésion et le mix semble bourré de trous mais si le tout sonne amateur, on capte et on a un minimum de puissance. Genre, roots. Donc un bon point. Et ça met bien en valeur un chant à moitié barré, guttural et dégueulasse mais se cassant dans tous les sens et affichant une nouvelle ligne étrange toutes les trente secondes. Bref, Ossuaire sait ce qu'il fait, et tartine avec une fougue juvénile un Death Metal putride et occulte qui hésite pas à y aller du blast (le titre éponyme et son milliard de cassures) et du traditionnel morceau plus mid-tempo tralala (ici "Le Fléau", vite rattrapé par la furie en piste 4). Bref, tour du proprio, rien d'étrange à signaler, juste un bon condensé de ce qu'est une petite œuvre honnête de Death Metal, avec son ambiance et sa thématique à elle, mais qui transcende rien non plus.
Donc voilà. Un joli produit rance du terroir. Un petit truc exhumé à l'odeur de cadavre infecté dont on se satisfait de la compagnie viciée pendant un gros quart d'heure, puis qu'on range avant de rebalancer quelques fois. Ossuaire est un représentant parfait d'un pan du Death Metal fangeux, intègre et sombre, dont on pourrait entendre parler s'ils faisaient un minimum d'efforts de communication car potentiel il y a autant dans les riffs que le concept que le chant. Donc s'ils n'ont pas disparu et nous préparent quelque chose, on peut s'attendre à voir un gros bloc Old School ressurgir et faire du bruit. Aller les mecs, on croit en vous...

Ossuaire og deres første demo og utgivelse "Le Troubadour Necrophagéophile" ble tidligere i år reutgitt på kassett via Nihilistic Holocaust. Opprinnelig så ble denne sluppet som CDr tilbake i 2005. Grov og oldschool death metal for den som liker den smaken! Det er litt vanskelig å skille endel band innen den gamle death metal skolen, men om du altså tar litt råtten innspilling. Hiver en drøss gitarsoloer som river og røsker deg hardt nedover ryggsøylen så skal man altså ha en demo av dugelig karakter. Ossuaire klarer å levere en grei standard der ihvertfall.
Førstesporet "L'Eveil Des Morts" eller noe oversatt som "The Awakening Of The Dead" har en helt klar måte å friske opp nedbrutt motivasjon på. Det er noe med selve lyden på trommene og den enkle gitaren som gir oppstartsfasen en liten rolig og sped begynnelse.. før det da altså gruser alt av human presentasjon."Le Troubadour Necrophagéophile" som gir rette linjer til endel av pågangsmotet til blant annet Truppensturm på deres siste utgivelse gir meg tidvis frysninger da den er relativt hard og kald. "Le Fléau" ble kanskje litt for drøy og ensformig, og de to siste på 'mellomstadiet' en plass. Litt mersom fyllmasse.
Intressant band -og håper det vokser og gror og at det blir mulig å kunne få grepet fatt i mer materiale fra gjengen her etterhvert.
