Hello,all.

I'm looking for some dark, futuristic industrial goth or metal. Anything that is 'cyberpunk' themed or about futuristic societies(post-apocalyptic, totalitarian, etc.) Could maybe be something like 'industrial nu-metal' if there is such a thing. Anything reminiscent of William Gibson's novels. Here's a pretty good example of what I'm looking for:

Like that only more cyberpunk themed lyrics.

Cheers.

I was listening to Breach The Void recently - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nl_FCuryjKQ

It may not be exactly what you're looking for but do give it a try.

Fear Factory may be too obvious. The latest album "The Industrialist" is very good. Lyrical themes include "Technology, Anti-Religion, Hate, Society, Sci-Fi"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LL36MHdnUsE

Herrschaft is a good example as well. Lyrical themes include "Post-Apocalypse, Human Beings, Chaos"

You might like Mars On Earth. They combine a gritty Industrial sound with black metal to create some truly out of this world.

maybe Sybreed? Their first album "Slave Design" is sth you could possibly enjoy. Later they went into a bit too polished sound, at least for me. However - here's a song to check out:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_lHskJw7PE

also Re:aktor play some very good industrial/groove metal. The lyrics have a near-future feel to them yet maybe not 100% cyberpunkish, anyway listen here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GwPB0poVjwE

Also Left Spine Down is great. They in fact call their style cyberpunk. It's a weird blend of punk, electronic, industrial, metal,... Give them a try:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBFwXJNkTkg
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KzWwJ8mdh94

an is Deathstars too obvious? Can't say anything about the lyrics but from what I catched on hearing it seems to be your music, industrial goth metal stuff... possibly you know them already

i just recommended this band to someone looking for futuristic metal, may even have been you, but i'm not sure. i'd call this band sci-fi death metal, with a sprinkling of industrial: Umbah

the song is called Dr. Geiger, and it sounds like the memoirs of a scientist gone mad. lyrically i think it fits the bill, and the music (though guitar-driven) sounds very futuristic. the vocal delivery is truly unique, lots of distortion but a has a cool, stylistic-narrative feel to it.

thats a very cool and quite underground rec...i second...its actually a side project of some well known avant garde metallers

my recs are :

god is lsd
acumen nation
rabbit junk
cubanate
testify
shellshock
melt
die krupps
the amenta
red harvest

some are old and some are new but all are intersting in unique ways and all meet your requirements to seom extent

i would suggest to avoid the post fear factory type bands (sybreed) and go for the more original and inventive bands and artists

Ok, so I'm liking Sybreed and Left Spine Down the best, not too big on Fear Factory though. They just never quite nailed the atmosphere for me. I haven't listened to Mars On Earth yet, but I'll get to it. There's still something missing in the recs thus far, though, I'm not quite sure what it is though.
Thank you all for helping out.

It's not dark, industrial or gothic, but 'NM 156' by Queensrÿche, perhaps?

The music is prog, and probably too upbeat to be very 'cyberpunk', but the lyrics certainly are dystopian, (post-)apocalyptic, futuristic and totalitarian, and they involve intrusive cybernetic wetwiring, identity crisis, opposition between juxtaposed human and machine elements - it's all there.

I realize that genre wise it's not what you're looking for, but maybe give Perturbator a listen. Sounds like something that would be playing in a club in Blade Runner. Maybe you'll dig it.

Ensoph comes to mind, musical-wise.
Also perhaps mid era ... And Oceans?
An atypical rec, but the psytrance band The Synthetic Dream Foundation may also be of interest
Also I was listening to Dol Kruug today and it's quite good. Death metal though instead of gothic also gets nothing lyrical-wise, but still cyberpunk musical-wise

Feels like we just had this thread :P

Deathstars - The Perfect Cult

Gonna second these guys. Not a particularly metal example - their sound falls somewhere between KMFDM and Rammstein on the scale of metal-ness - but they're super gothy.

T3CHN0PH0B1A - Grave New World

T3chn0ph0b1a considers their music to be "Dancefi-Horror," and that description works well enough. They're a pretty cool aggrotech/black metal hybrid, and while I'm not a huge fan of high-pitched screams, it's still very well done.

Hanzel und Gretyl - Uber Alles

HuG was always one of the better bands to switch from primarily electronics-driven industrial to a guitar-driven sound, and Uber Alles is their most identifiable album. It's a really surreal album that takes place in a futuristic World War II, and consists primarily of death-metal riffs played under Wagnerian-sounding synths.

Powerman 5000 - Builders of the Future

You mentioned industrial nu metal, so I'm gonna rec these guys, even though they're pretty upbeat and not goth. Builder's of the Future isn't their best album, and it's certainly the least metal album on this list - it's more electronic rock than anything - but it's one of the most cyberpunk albums I can think of.

I don't understand how gothic in sound can be associated with anything related to cyberpunk, but I'll post some of the same I always post when people as for Cyberpunk-ish Metal...

First of all -- Neurotech.
Like Sybreed, a must when it comes to futuristic/Cyberpunk related stuff.
All his releases sound different, so have a look around. I'll post some suggestions.
All his stuff can be downloaded for free on Bandcamp.
https://neurotech.bandcamp.com/album/stigma

Decode the Design.
They're working on their debut album set to release soon, but they already have an EP out for free.
They refer to their music as "Cityscape Metal", but it very much fits in with the "Cyber/Futuristic" vibe.
Favorite track: Chaos Lanes and Future to Fragments.
https://decodethedesign.bandcamp.com/

Clawerfield's latest EP is also really fitting.
Favorite track: Halo
https://clawerfield.bandcamp.com/

Deadheaven is pretty good too.
Fave track: Тени
https://deadheaven.bandcamp.com/album/-

Assimilate. New band from Norway, currently working on their debut, and personal affiliates of mine.
Check 'em out. EP is free.
The vocal melodies could be better, but that's on the fault of their singer, who is gone from the band now. :P
https://assimilateband.bandcamp.com/album/ep

MERA. New band project by youtube-guitarist LiamENGL. The EP is instrumental, but the upcoming album will have vocals.
https://mera.bandcamp.com/

Paul Wardingham -- instrumental shred with cyber atmospheres.

http://www.paulwardingham.com/beyondhuman/

Edge of Haze -- Kinda like Insomnium with Cyber atmospheres.
Fave track: Crushed.
http://music.edgeofhaze.com/

I have some more, but that'll do for now, I think...
