Hello,
I've compiled a list of bands that fit the style that I am on the hunt for. I've looked at a couple of threads here on the forum that have chased up a number of bands that reflect the style, and I've made a compilation based on that search. I'd appreciate any further recommendations of 90s esque proto tech and/jazz fusion bands with death vocals that you might have that are not on the list. Thanks so much,

List of bands/albums
Absorbed
Atheist
Caress
Carnal Rapture
Continuo Renacer (no vox though)
Cynic
Exist (a bit modern)
Illuminati
Infamia
Forgotten Silence (Retro '93 EP, 2015)
Mindwork
Pessimist
Phantasmagory
Phlebotomized (sort of fits)
Sadist (Crust)
Serdce (Timelessness)
Stigmatized (Chile)
Tenebris
Thormenthor
Violent Dirge (Craving)
Vuvr
Wayd
Vortex
Will O Wisp

Pestilence - Spheres https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dF5-yy-jopA
Some pretty odd stuff going on on this album. Definitely has death metal vocals

A few that spring to mind:

Creepmime - Chiaroscuro
(totally rips on Cynic and Pestilence but not bad at it all the same)

Algophobia - Algophobia
(decent Death/Atheist inflected Italian dm, vocals sound like Necroticism> era Carcass)

Martyr - Hopeless Hopes
(more Death/Atheist worship, but one of the best at it)

Capharnaum - Reality Only Fantasized
(more Death worship with a bit of Atheist in there, as I remember it not particularly jazzy but some good melodic soloing)

Disaffected - Vast (another one like Phlebotomized, IMO more developed sound wise)

Thanks for the suggestions, forgot about Creepmime.... pretty good band also Disaffect "Vast" has some really appropriate sounds for the style I am chasing. Thanks!

I think bands closest to Pestilence's Spheres and Phantasmagory represent the sound I am trying to find; cheesy synths layers onto death vox and complex jazz-riffs.

One tends to hear this sort of style in Eastern Europe but that not sure if I am missing anything.

I did want to add a couple of other bands to list that others may not know or find interesting.

Scenery (Atheist worship, and OK)
Nomicon
Duobetic Homunculus

Thanks for the help, hoping there are some hidden gems out there.

Unreal Overflows? Haven't heard their new album, but the first album sort of fits your request. It's a bit modern, but they named themselves after a demo by Absorbed, so they have their hearts in the right place I think.

And this one's more of a longshot, but maybe Symbyosis? They can be a bit aggressive at times though. I would post some more material of their (superior imo) second album but pretty much everything on youtube from the album is from the second disc which is nearly all covers.

BETRAYAL had a jazz break down in one of their songs on "The Passing" album that sounds surprisingly good but they are more thrash with typical thrash vocals.

Thanks for the suggestions. I am hoping to find more 90s type bands, many of these seem to be more from Europe. Unreal overflows is good but too modern and polished. the search continues thanks!

Totally different fusion of jazz and death but check out Acrania (not the deathcore one). Fuses latin jazz and death metal.
