Sonata Arctica - Victoria's Secret

Winterhearts Guild has such an amazing atmosphere and their best album keyboard wise.

Keyboard solo reminds me of Secret of Mana. :nods:

Always going to be my favorite album of theirs, partially due to nostalgia.

Type O Negative - "All Hallows Eve" from World Coming Down

Went to the dollar store today and it looked like Halloween already with all the decorations out on display. Put me in a very Type O-esque mood.

Crushed recommended these guys a short while ago for fans of the Canadian band Ephemer, just remembered to check them out. He hit the nail dead on the head. This is quite incredible stuff.

Nice work man, and cheers! I have taken a real liking to these guys. Still waiting for my copy of the second demo to arrive...

Acephalix - Deathless Master

Simple, down tuned heavy Swedeath inspired death/crust. Pretty damn good stuff really - no punched pulled, with hearts on their sleeves.

Half way through the new Dark Fortress. Song currently playing is The Deep. Very cool brooding acoustic based track.

NP: Marduk - Serpent Sermon

This whole album is just amazing, and this particular song has a perfect example of a chorus done well in metal. Also the main riff kicks your ass and spills your coffee...

Saint Vitus - War Is Our Destiny

Great to wake up to Vitus. Fuzzy, groovy old school doom - the way it should be, none of this Pallbearer nonsense.

Future Tense by Sanctuary. Very short lived band but amazing Id say. Their 2 albums are among Heavy Metals greatest 1-2 Punch. First post!

NP: Poison Idea - Death of an Idiot Blues

Fuckin' raw chainsaw punk by Portland hardcore legends.

Macabre Omen - The Ancient Returns

Music itself is pretty good, but what the fuck is up with the vocals. That sort of keening Burzum/Wigrid sound doesn't work at all in this type of epic black metal. What the fuck SOMEONE GIVE ME AN ANSWER OR I'LL BLOW UP THE ARCHIVES

Nightwish - Escapist

One of the rare instances of the bonus track being the best outing on the entire album.

:aww: I love this album, even with the vocals...

Truppensturm - Gustav, The Great

Fuckin' fuckity fuck fuck fuck!! This album rules SO hard. One of the most devastatingly brutal albums I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. Perfection.

Meshuggah - I

Haven't listened to this song in at least 3 years. I forgot how absurd and insane it gets at times.

Magister Dixit - "Ancient Tongue We Speak" from Maze of Thousand Ways

Pentagram - Ask No More

Sounds good...haven't heard this in years and years. Hooky, propulsive guitar playing and solid vocals. Gonna have to hear more of this band.

Draconian - The Oath of Wisdom

From their demo days when they sounded like Opeth. Interesting little curiosity.

Yes.

Exodus - Funeral Hymn

Trying to whip myself into shape for Blood In, Blood Out. Although I probably should be spinning Hatriot, all things considered.

Goatcraft - In the Arms of Pity

Wondering what this would sound like sped up and played on guitar. Probably somewhat Mercyful Fate-ish.

Kreator - Phantom Antichrist

Sure, lyrics are beyond cheesy, riffs have been on auto-repeat ever since Violent Revolution, but the heavy production and strong melodeath tendencies still make this a fairly solid album.

...

Suffocation - Blood Oath

Can't believe it took me this long to realise this album is too goddamn boring, sheesh.
