That album is so killer. Check out the follow-up that came out a couple months ago, it's almost as good.

Azmaveth - Strong As Death

Such killer black/death. I saw that EoH had bought it so I took another glance at their music and forgot how good they were.

Vaakevandring - Self-Titled EP
Drottnar - Anamorphosis

I talked about these a while back, but it took them a bit to ship from Norway.

I did a little catching up:
Amorphis - Circle
Ashes of Ares - s/t
Sonata Arctica - Pariah's Child

I've listened to Circle a couple times. It's got the signature Amorphis sound of the Joutsen albums, albeit darker. The change is nice, yet I think the melodies come through better when they write brighter/poppier songs.

The Ashes of Ares album is very back-to-basics so it was the easiest of the bunch for me to get into straightaway. Barlow sounds great as usual. The only thing I'm not crazy about is Freddie Vidales' soloing. He plays some cool licks here and there, but as a whole the solos are kind of tame and meandering. He's a great riff-writer, though.

Pariah's Child didn't click with me at first but it's beginning to open up. If anything, this album sounds like a continuation of Stones Grow Her Name, more so than a return to form. Even the first track, which I feel has the most in common with Sonata's pre-Unia albums, sounds more like it belongs with their latest material because of that Christmas carol-like verse. I'm not knocking this album in any way, though, as I have liked all of their recent albums.

Also got this in from the man himself:
Cauldron Born - Sword and Sorcery Heavy Metal

Asphyx - Deathhammer (Brazilian press)
Death - Leprosy (some South American reissue): Death full-length collection is finally complete.
Dismember - The God that Never was
Dismember - Dismember: ^These both absolutely rip. Easily among their best. Probably my favourite Swedeath band.
Funeral Circle - Funeral Circle: Excellent varied doom.
Nuclearhammer - Existence of Abhorrence (tape)
Pentacle - Ancient Death (tape): Apparently this has Death/Mantas covers with KK from D666 on guitars
Summoning - Stronghold (tape boxset)
Vital Remains - Into Cold Darkness (Digipak reissue): Cannot get into this band. Second album I've tried from them. Does not hold my attention at all.
Warmarch - The Declaration
Witchburner - Witchburner / Blasphemic Assault
唐朝 - 演义

Still waiting on a few preorders and stuff.

I haven't posted in this thread much recently, haven't bought that many metal things recently (been too sick and drained of energy to feel like looking for good deals on stuff like I used to), did buy quite a bunch of non metal cds and vinyl but didn't post 'em here since I don't think that many people would appreciate them. Maybe there should be a non metal album purchase thread in the tavern or something. Anyway yesterday I got the Yob- The Great Cessation vinyl reissue in the mail, also ordered Demilich- 20th Adversary of Emptiness cd, Deafheaven -Sunbather vinyl (on sale on amazon for $10.99 shipped), and Earth- Earth 2 vinyl.

That Vital Remains album is on my wantlist if you want to get rid of it, maybe a swap?

Speaking for that States here, yes you can legally own human bones and yes they are expensive as hell. Dread's pretty spot on with the $1,000 USD (that's for the lower end if I remember correctly). My wife would love to own at least one human skull (now if I could just get her to like metal  ), I on the other hand think it would be creepe as fuck and wont allow it. I did comprise and bought her a baboon skull for a present one year which was considerably cheaper (about 1/4 the cost) which actually looks pretty bad ass. Maybe I shoukd use it as a background piece for some photos next time.

Antestor - Omen
Grave Declaration - When Dying Souls Scream Praise
Sanctifica/Pantokrator - In the Bleak Midwinter/Songs of Solomon
Drottnar - Spiritual Battle
Crimson Moonlight - The Covenant Progress

All of these are physical copies (which is rare for me, I usually buy music digitally because it's cheaper, faster, and easier). Bolded ones are brand new for me, the other three are physical versions of albums that I previously owned digitally but loved so much I wanted to be able to hold them in my hands.

^Pretty please use spoiler tags next time if your images are that plentiful and that big.

I picked up a few things from Sullen Records today.

Suspiria Profundis - In War Against Satan
Erasmus - Memento Mori I: Outrecuidance
Maugrim - Paths of the Damned

And I also ordered this from Nordic Mission:

Grave Declaration - The Nightshift Worshiper

I'm so excited!

There's no need to do that, his pictures aren't even big. ForestCorpse is the Marc Dorcel of MA and that's fine with everyone!

What's the deal with nordic mission, they've got to be selling reissues right? There's no way those are any but, but I've never heard of them before nor have I heard of some of this stuff being reissued.

I only bought the Grave Declaration EP from Nordic Mission, the other three things weren't. Their website is nordicmission.net and all they are is a Norwegian company that sells Christian music, my copy that I'm getting is indeed one of the original 850, not some reissue.

That's fine and dandy but they don't just have stock piles of oop albums from the 90's laying around in new form now do they? I'll have to do some investigation. Also they don't sell just Christian music. Are they basically a second hand store then, buying and reselling albums?

Where's my usual suspects? Dread, androdion, other gurus come forth and shed thy knowledge upon me.

NM does sell a few non-Christian bands, but everything they sell is Christian appropriate (no Paganism, Satanism, atheism, anti-Christianity, anti-religion, etc.). Some of the stuff is used, but they put it in the title of the CD if it is (i.e. "AS I LAY DYING An Ocean Between Us (used)"). Most of the music that they sell is new, though.

I wouldn't say that they have "stockpiles" of out-of-print albums, but maybe a few copies here and there. I'm pretty sure that these guys were the main distributor for Momentum Scandinavia and Nokternal Hemizphear (I actually think they own the latter if I remember right). So it would make sense if they had a few copies of the 850x Momentum Scandinavia EPs (they don't carry Vaakevandring though, as that's too rare). If it's stuff for big bands (Extol, Antestor, etc.) I'm pretty sure that they sell the American reprint versions.

This is what the "About Us" section says:

Quote:
Welcome to the new webshop for Nordic Mission and thanks for visiting us! Being in the scene since 1997, we still believe that music in physical forms still is relevant, and because of that we have dedicated ourselvest to deliver. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions about our business and mission, or perhaps you have tips on new bands and music we should check out? Check also the sites called terms, shipping and payment options for more information.

Guess you could email them if you want.
