Cavalera Conspiracy are streaming their new song "Bonzai Kamakazi" (can't decide if the name is genius or just really stupid) at this location: http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/cavale ... streaming/

I think think the new song is pretty fucking great actually. The vocals are pretty low in the mix which takes away the focus from Max (often lame) lyrics.

The album cover is great as well.

What do you guys think? I know many people here are fed up with Max but there is at least some love for the first Cavalera Conspiracy album.

Edit: Included the album cover in the post.

Sounds like something I can't wait to not listen to.

Yeah I'm essentially done with Max. I thought that one Soulfly album that came out in like 2011 or 2012 was neat and a start in the right direction, and he messed that up royally by releasing the next album.

Huh...wasn't bad if generic, but he's made wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy worse. So, I guess I'll take it, but will definitely not listen.

listening now, and it's kicking my arse. i don't know what it is, but the way cavalera writes music just resonates with me. with the exception of the first few soulfly albums, everything he touches turns to gold imo. this included. i'd go as far as to say that he should be used as the example for older bands - "here's how you keep writing interesting music into your 50s. judas priest, we're looking at you!"

It was okay, nothing really remarkable. The title is far from genius, given that they had one job to do and still couldn't take two minutes to google the spelling of -either word- in their title. Good job, guys. I suppose this song is about the suicide of an illiterate tiny tree.

I'm going to assume 'Bonzai' is a misspelling of bonsai rather than banzai, and that the song is about a small potted tree going with quiet dignity to its death in the name of honour and empire.

It has some decent riffs but the mallcore elements of early Soulfly are all over the place. Those two note distorted "leads" are horrible. It's sad because if they would have built from the original riffs and left out the shitty elements and maybe put a proper solo in there it could have been much better.

That would be Bonzai Sepookoo. Bonzai Kamakazi is obviously about an illiterate potted tree suicide bombing. ;)

Also good lord, the production of this song is so claustrophobic and compressed it gives me a headache. Where's the bass drum? Is there one?

Also, Max, that sudden slowdown is not a thrash break. That's mallcore.

Sounds like every other lame half-baked semi-thrash song off a Soulfly album, see Frontlines.

Eh, I'll buy the album and like a bit of it I'm sure. I loved Inflikted more than almost anyone and that goodwill hasn't worn out yet.

TYPICAL Cavalera song. Seriously, it has his name written all over the goddamn thing. Still, it's a great song, bit repetitive and it lacks variation but again, it's Max so what do you expect?

Shame that the bass is so silent, Max was really enthusiastic about Nate, but ehh, nah he doesn't really sound that prominent.

Is this grindcore though? Sounds like thrash metal to me.

Who are you responding to with your first question? Of course this is thrash.

This is the first time I'm hearing a song by this project and it actually seems pretty good, if not outright amazing. It's definitely a fair bit more punishing and heavy-hitting than most modern thrash.

Max himself said this album would be grindcore, that's why I said that.

Ps. That lead riff is addictive.

Better than I expected! Definitely sounds no different than Soulfly for the most part, but it isn't bad at all! Blunt Force Trauma was a huge let down, Infliked was pretty good, so I will go in to this with low expectations so that way I am stoked if its amazing :D

That album artwork, though -__-

It frankly sounded pretty... decent? Until the breakdown, then it all crumbled and back to Cavalera being awful and boring as always.

That artwork is a confused mess of idea if ever I've seen one. It is good to see them branching out from the minimalist 'logo on background' style, but this doesn't really work for me. What the hell is going on with the font for the band name?

Yeah that caught my eye too, makes it looks like it's from 1993..intentional?

I really like that new artwork. It's certainly more inspired than the new At the Gates album cover.

Like the new song, looking forward to it.

The cover looks so 'brazilian pop art' and this is good at my eyes.

bump: samples of the entire album have been released

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCOrgkSCcpg

some of these tracks have an older godflesh-style industrial vibe to them. i'm intrigued.

In wishlist after listen to sample, sounds very promising and extreme.

Love Max voice and the effects he used here, go Cavalera go!!!

It's pretty goddamn one-dimensional though, but hey it's Max, didn't have to expect more.

yeah it is one-dimensional - the chorus in each song seems to be pretty much the same. the songs will probably follow similar patterns through. the latest soulfly was like that, too. still a decent album but imo!

Sheesh, he said it would be inspired in grindcore, but I'm not sure he knows what grindcore sounds alike.
BUUUT... that track sounded like good (thrash inspired) melodic death metal.

This is actually pretty damn good. It's straight forward stuff, especially with that main lead, and it kicks ass.

Never heard a more inconsistent song. For the most part it was promising, but that bridge was god awful. I hate it when something that fast and brutal gets you excited for a mosh fest and then they do some lame drum diddle and add some wishy washy wah sounds to end it. When they go back to the first riff, they don't change anything. Why? We've already heard this... What a waste of time. Ending could have been better too.

pessimistically optimistic.

Well, at least some of the samples sound interesting.

Someone compared some of it to Godflesh, but I think it sounds similar to Soul of a New Machine era Fear Factory. I'm glad he's doing something different with his vocals for once, I didn't think he had guttural vocals in him. The caveman yell got a little old over the past 30 years.

I'll give it a 5/10 on the interest meter.

Yep, that's a Cavalera song. WTF is with the low end in this song? Is it just me or is this a really shitty mix?

this song is pretty cool. full of riffs, lots of shit going on in the background (if you listen with headphones) and the industrial vibe is floating my boat.

Confirm my positive impression. This album is going to be one of most extreme thrash of the year.

That's for certain. Can't really get over how one-dimensional it is though. I mean, i'm used to this coming from Max, but it seems really, really much this time around.

Yeah, still not hearing this grindcore sound the album was supposed to have (not that I completely trusted Max's word to begin with, but still).

Cramunhao, Insurrection, and Father of Hate sounded pretty cool and dialed up the speed proper. I kinda liked Bonzai Kamikazee as well. Marc Rizzo's guitarwork is pretty much the only person holding this band together from being a complete and total mess.

As for the album cover, yeah it's outlandish, but it's nice and colorful. Beats the monotony of the previous two albums' covers.

Video for the titletrack.

Must appreciated the visual and mood in Territory/Chaos A.D. reminiscent.

This album are going to thrash 'em all...

Thrash? Yeah...no. The chorus sounded fucking retarded until I figured out what he was saying (honestly it still does). The rest is just okay. I missed this song being posted earlier. I'm with LeMiserable at this juncture, very standard.
