Euphoric Defilement - To Postulate Unconditional Perversions

Actually quite good for brutal death. Too bad the rest of the album is nowhere near as good as this song.

The band continues where they left off with their first album ... unconventional black metal ... raw dirty different

I had no idea they had a new album, I really liked the first one.

Man, listening to this band is just like walking the street with a flamethrower!

That's one of the most apt description of the feeling Bolt Thrower gives I've ever come across. Brilliant.

Np : Funebrarum - Beneath the Columns of Abandoned Gods

Very good old Death Metal with a fittingly dirty production. New album please.

Children - Advanced Mind Control

Insane how underrated these modern thrash titans are. Nobody even knows. This is up to par with everything Vektor has released imo. A bit different breed of progressive thrash, lots of hardcore punk elements in there - especially in the vocals. So fucking sweet though.

Skywings "DDDDDDDDDDDDD"

Ridiculous song title, pretty nice neoclassical power metal though.

Nader Sadek - Nigredo in Necromance

In the Flesh is one of my favorite death metal albums in recent years. This song in particular is just so haunting and evil.

HammerFall - HammerFall

Interesting how these guys got so big. Nobody knew how much revivalist classic metal was around the corner, and these guys were at the forefront. Pretty fucking good power metal...just so fun and clean and good spirited.

Chapel - Blood Will Be Spilled

Great mixture of black/speed/rock. Similar to the likes of Venom and Midnight.

Listening to Ildjarn's side of the split with hate forest.
The audio sounds off, as if it was being played slower than it was recorded.
But the vocals sound regular. So overall it sounds like it was done deliberately. I like it.

Crimson Shadows - Kings Among Men

NP: Moonlit Skies and Bloody Ties

Still not sure how I feel about this album after a few listens. The three re-recorded songs are the best ones on here, and other than "Braving The Storm" the new ones have yet to click with me. I can't help but feel the album was rushed in order to get something out for Napalm Records. It's strange too, because they've been sitting on "Ruler of Mankind" for years and haven't recorded it, despite it being one of their best songs.

It's still a good album overall, and I'm sure it will grow on me, but as a long-time fan, it feels really different from their first work (the two EPs and album).

One of my all-time favourite songs, with two classic HammerFall lines:

"A metal heart is hard to tear apart"

"Just follow your heart, don't listen to the crowd"

Savatage - Strange Wings

I've always overlooked them for some reason. But I think I'm starting off with their best album, amirite? Not my brand of heavy metal but this sounds good so far.

Darkthrone - Hate Is the Law

That riff at 2:13... Somewhat underrated song, very cool riffs and aggressive vocals.

Spite Extreme Wing - Vltra

Why is this album not heralded as one of the finest black metal albums of the last decade? Why is it barely ever mentioned? The riffs are second to none, the grandeur is like no other. I just wish more people gave this album a listen.

Wrought of Obsidian - New Horizon. Pretty solid melo death going on here, just got the cd in the mail the other day and I'm enjoying the hell out of it. One of the best dollars I've spent.

Oh how I disagree with the last review of Below The Lights. This is an amazing album and this song is just fucking epic!

Reviews with a rating of less than 99% for Below the Lights are automatically wrong.

NP: SubRosa - Dark Country

Just came back from their gig, they were fucking immense, love that band so much!

I've been criticizing recent Nightwish quite a bit lately, but this is great.

Belphegor - Conjuring the Dead

Listening via the Nuclear Blast stream. Only a couple of tracks in and it sounds pretty good. Getting some Behemoth/Nile vibes from the title track though, hoping that dies down.

Wintersun - "Sons of Winter and Stars"

Track is easily three times too long. I forgot I was listening to it there for a while.

EDIT: "Land of Snow and Sorrow" ....jesus christ this is tedious...

Jag Panzer - Bloody Crime

Thane to the Throne has always been my favorite Jag Panzer album. Not sure why, it just gives me a feeling. Great album. How are they going to replace The Tyrant? They should just let it go with dignity.

Picked this album up yesterday and am now giving it my first full listen. Definitely not disappointed so far (5 songs in)

NP: Profanatica [Thy Kingdom Cum, 2013] - 3/8. Denounce Him (00:18/04:01) {323 kbp/s}
Can we take the mic away from Ledney? He sounds so....strained. Other than that the musicianship isn't bad.

Hauntingly beautiful. One of the best "epic-length" songs in metal. Just recently got around to listening to X Japan; so far ,so god.

I've no plans until tomorrow afternoon, at which time the celebration will truly begin on my end. If I had gone to Morbid Angel, I'd still be driving home right now, probably.

Eluveitie - Celtos

The new album is what I would expect from these guys. I like folk metal a lot and they may not be the best at it but they are enjoyable to me. I'm just a sucker for the folk instruments mixed with metal.
