Hey Metal fam whats good with ya. So I'm a rook to the site if this is the wrong spot for the post or there is a similar post just give me a heads up. So heres my problem I need an awesome Metal playlist for my ipod to keep the power flowin in the weight room. Now epic is a very open criteria so what I mean are those heavy songs or bands that just get you pumped ,and keep ya going. I will list some songs and bands that I have on there already so it can give you kinda of the area I'm coming from ,and if you know some similar songs and bands those work too.

Bathory- Mother Earth Father Thunder (my favorite band ,and I'm a sucker for the whole viking metal metal era of theirs).

Rebellion- Harold Finehair (these guy released some heavy albums in my opinion, big fan of their stuff).

Primordial- Empire Falls ( This song is my jam. In my opinion you just can't go wrong with these guys).

Waylander- Born to the fight (If you don't know them try the album The Light, The Dark And The Endless Knot got some good stuff on there).

Amon Amarth- Across the Rainbow Bridge (wasn't a fan at first but, they grew on me gotta love The Hero).

Dark Lunacy- Serenity (couldn't find many other of their songs I liked as much as this one but, if you know others I am willing to give it a shot).

Dark Forest-Northstar

Iron Fire- To the Grave

Holy Grail- Immortal Man

King of Asgard- Einharjar

Overkill-Ironbound

Sepultura-Arise

Stormwarrior-Valhalla

The Sword-Freya

Its already 163 songs these are just some of the goodies on there but, some people might agree with me on this, its ain't enough. If you haven't heard some of these songs or bands try them out and, tell me what you think.

Liberteer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jJLw2xhc ... ure=relmfu Mean as fuck grind with an epic edge
Guided Cradle http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WkyErR-vEqg Some truly heartpounding badassery, alas the rest of their stuff isn't as "epic".
S.S.S. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7oKHPwBT9s not epic but this shit turns me into a fucking maniac.

I want to like Ensiferum but, I don't think I could sit back and enjoy an entire album so I just pick a few of their songs like From Afar and Heathen Throne. I can make another exception for this one ,and the other two tracks are heavy.

try Ironsword. They are a constant band in my workout playlist ;) Epic, a bit raw, punding heavy metal with vocals on the slightly rougher side than your usual heavy metal.
here are two songs to check out:

No, no, no! What are you doing :durr: ? You need more aggressive stuff than this.

I've been a long-time bodybuilder and these songs would decrease my bench by 50 pounds :boring:. You need something that makes you want to rip the bar in half.

Just messing with you bud. But really ... I go with the most pounding, violent, angry stuff I can in the gym. I'm not going to suggest anything because I don't think our tastes are the same.

I'm a big fan of folk, pagan and viking metal but, when I'm surfing for new stuff and trying new bands I'm just not feeling it. So I'm not really trying to have those genres make up the playlist but, just powerful songs in general. From Black metal to Melodic death metal, Punk to Power metal, Thrash to Pirate metal. I'm willing to give any heavy tracks a chance don't hold back.

it just crossed my mind that perhaps Ex Deo are also sth for you. Since you're into pagan stuff etc. this kind of epic (death?) metal should be right up your alley.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8706Zxq6a8

Also to some extend Bal Sagoth work for me when hitting the iron. Not all of their songs (though all being fantastic!) are suited for working out however this one (and others I could post if you're interested) surely does:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YMLFvZMqvQQ

Oh, and if you like to listen to classic metal stuff a la ManOwaR (much of thier music is perfect for the weight room imo), then Majesty also do work:

Try bench-pressing to Dragonforce.

That'll put some goddamn hair on your chest. Not necessarily Dragonforce themselves, but the 300-bpm benching.

Angel Dust might be of use in the gym (though they're awesome in general). They play chunky, groove laden power metal, and although their music has many layers and textures, for me, they're first and foremost a crushing outfit. This song's verse riff in particular is made for pumping iron.

The trouble with metal is that everyone has their own definition of "powerful" and "heavy". For me, black metal, anything with "melodic" in the title, epic, punk and power metal are not "powerful or heavy". That's why I was reluctant to suggest anything. For me, there are only three genres that have the tempo and aggression to match the tempo and aggression required for serious lifting - mid-tempo death, a small smattering of "core", and what someone here labeled "brutal thrash".

If you're a serious lifter you understand that building muscle is all about "intensity". That it is neither a manic activity, benefited by manic music, or a slow lazy activity, benefited by melancholic music. It's an activity that works best with controlled evenly-paced movements. You need controlled aggression to push past your mental barriers. Music-wise, to match the evenly-paced tempo and aggression I want to achieve it starts with mid-tempo pounding driving drums. Then either an evil or bludgeoning rhythm guitar.

These are the kinds of songs that bring out that feeling of grit your teeth, kick some weight ass, aggression for me.

Slayer - Seven Faces

Exhorder - I Am The Cross

Well I'm really not going for a specific genre or pace. It could be the rift or a chorus to a song that when you hear it your like "Damn this weight is heavy but, this is my jam I got 4 more reps left and I ain't putting this fucker down till I finish the sets I intended on doing before I got here". Thats what I meant by powerful ,and yes that does vary by person which is the whole point. Not only is this for my workout playlist but, just broadening my horizon metal wise. Most importantly I head back into the gym this monday from being sick so I thought I know there gotta be some veteran head bangers on here who know what I'm talking about because if the tunes ain't ready than you ain't ready haha. Not sure if I properly explained what I'm looking for so I will give examples with the songs and bands I posted earlier.

Bathory- I'm a huge fan of the viking metal era (R.I.P Quorthon)so I already want to hear their stuff but, Mother Earth Father Thunder and The Stallion are some awesome songs that also bring the heat in my opinion so their on the playlist.

Rebellion-They make an awesome Speed metal/Power metal combo along with with viking themed lyrics (not always accurate but, still enjoyable). When I hear their track Odin off the Arise album I'm like "O shit that riff is heavy time to get pumped" or another song of theirs Adrenalin.

Waylander-Born to the Fight is my morning alarm clock to go jog. So when I'm tired in the morning I hear Born to the Fight ,and think "I ain't tired. I sleep so I can wake up push it to the limit".haha

Primordial-The lead vocalist puts a lot of passion in his songs ,and the rest of group is rockin just as heavy. They come together and make some powerful shit in my opinion. So when I'm taking those three buses back from the gym yea I'm pretty sore and tired but, Bloodied Yet Unbowed (great song) gets me thinking "Yea I'm tired but, you bet your balls I'm gonna be back in that weight room the next day".

Amon Amarth- That stereotypical vikings raiding and destroying is kinda lame and abused by many bands but, they rock hard. I'm training to be a fighter so when I hear Live for the Kill I think "I live for the fight" and it keeps me pumped plus its just a damn good song.

Thats what I mean by powerful ,and I know you guys know what I mean but the bands and songs vary from different opinions. So the mission is to get these straight get pumped power songs onto the ultimate list so when I walk in there tomorrow I'm Bringing the force of the Norse haha.

Also I'd like to thank everyone for posting stuff so far I appreciate it. Since I've just been chillin and getting ready for the week I periodically been surfing the forums for heavy songs and checking the post. Please continue to post stuff you think fits in because personally I don't think you can have too much metal but thats just me.
